DIY Desks You Can Make In Less Than a Minute (Seriously!)

Need a desk ASAP, or looking for a way to squeeze another workspace into your home? Most of these desks are so simple to assemble, the inspiration image alone is all the how-to you'll need. First, pick a base—wood or metal sawhorses, storage cabinets, and trestle legs will all do the trick—then select a work surface, such as plywood or plexiglass. (Just be sure your base is sturdy enough to support the weight of whatever top you choose). Put the two together, and you have a desk you can assemble in under a minute.

Balance a wooden board across two IKEA storage cabinets, and boom—you have an instant desk with plenty of room to stash your office supplies. The one above was spotted in a home designed by Shift Interiors.

A steel sawhorse and two salvaged finds—an old door and a giant metal letter—combine forces to create a one-of-a-kind desk. This workspace is from Midbec Wallpapers, found on Frenchy Fancy.

This desk from Refinery 29 joins a wooden tabletop with white IKEA trestle legs. The best part is that the IKEA FINNVARD bases have platforms for extra under-desk storage.

On Livet Hemma, IKEA's own stylists hacked the LERBERG trestle by spray painting it mint green and pairing it with a stack of green books.

If you try DIY-ing this concrete-topped desk from scratch, following the directions The Merrythought created for the Home Depot blog, it will take you a bit longer than a minute. But you can also purchase a slab of concrete or stone and pair it with sawhorses sturdy enough to bear the weight.

This minimalist version is assembled from a sheet of glass or plexiglass, resting on top of two slender wooden sawhorses. Add more functionality with a storage cabinet underneath.

To construct this tandem desk from Stadshem spotted on Coco Lapine Design, balance two wood boards on top of a combination of $15 ODDVALT trestles and one ALEX drawer unit from IKEA.
