Have you noticed that the term master suite has recently become interchangeable with master retreat? Whether it’s used online, in print, or on TV, master retreat reflects what we all crave – an escape where we can refresh, revive, and recharge from the “busy-ness” of our everyday lives.

The top 10 trends from HGTV reflect the concept that your master bedroom is becoming your home within a home, the place you go to instantly feel comfortable and welcome.

A great way to make a room feel welcoming is by adding warm colors to it. Serene paint colors such as light purples, soft greens, and creams are becoming very popular in the master retreat, and are a great way to cozy up the space.

Bedding is essential when trying to maximize comfort. Whether you prefer firm or soft pillows, satin or cotton sheets, whatever it is, just make sure you choose the ones that make you the most comfortable. After all, the whole idea of a master retreat is to make it feel like it’s your own customized luxury hotel room, right?

And if that’s the case, why not maximize functionality as well? Incorporating a space in your master bedroom for an elegant chaise lounge or a pair of overstuffed armchairs instantly creates a peaceful spot to unwind at the end of the day. If the room allows for it, consider adding a fireplace to the sitting area to make the space even cozier.
